Brian Van Horn Named Chair of the Kentucky Long-Term Policy Research Center Board |

Childress FRANKFORT, KY (January 3, 2006) — Brian Van Horn, Assistant Dean of Continuing Education at Murray State University, has been named the 2006 Chair of the Board of the Kentucky Long-Term Policy Research Center, a state agency dedicated to studying the implications of public policy for the future. Mr. Van Horn served as Vice Chair of the Center’s Board during 2005. The Kentucky Long-Term Policy Research Center is governed by a 21-member board of directors, including appointees from the executive and legislative branches of government and 11 at-large representatives from around the state who are appointed by the Governor and the Legislative Research Commission. Mr. Van Horn was appointed to the Board in 2003. He has served in numerous educational capacities, including Director of Extended Campus and Director of Volunteer Programs at Murray State University, and as an elementary school administrator and a third grade teacher. Mr. Van Horn is active in the Association for Continuing Higher Education (ACHE) International Organization and serves as the International Membership Chair and Secretary for the Southeast Region, which encompasses 10 states. In addition, Mr. Van Horn serves his community and region as a Board Member for the Paducah Chamber of Commerce, the Executive Committee of the Paducah Area Community Reuse Organization (PACRO), the Greater Paducah Economic Development Council (GPEDC), and Chair of the West Kentucky A1C Project for these organizations. He also serves on the Boards of the Jackson Purchase P-16 Council and the Purchase Area Diabetes Coalition. He resides in Benton with his wife Laurel and son Will. ### |
